This document provides instructions for Schedule R (Form 1040), which is a credit for the elderly or disabled. You may be able to take this credit if by the end of 2008 you were 65 or older or retired on permanent and total disability and received taxable disability income. You must also meet other tests, that are described in both the form and these instructions.
